Calling all health nuts and fitness junkies that:
are burnt out by playing by the “healthy” rules that now rule you.
are doooooone with prioritizing flat abs over your relationships and happiness.
want more from life than just: Workout. Eat ‘clean’. Workout (again). Meal Prep. Sleep. Repeat.
want to stop living your life to be “healthy” and start being healthy to live your life!
Just like J.T. took sexy back, we’re Taking Healthy Back!
We’re changing the story, changing the message and changing the approach to healthy.
We’re saying f-you to rigid and restrictive ‘clean eating’ food rules and obsessive #NoExcuses workout regimens in the name of “healthy” because…
We are emotionally, mentally and physically healthier without ’em!
Healthy living isn't about having a tight ass, it's about living a tight-ass life!
And healthy isn’t healthy if it’s creating a disordered relationship with food and exercise and destroying our body image and self-esteem.
That’s what we call HELLthy, not healthy.
Taking Healthy Back is a movement to REDEFINE what it means and looks like to be ‘healthy‘ and to put the ‘life’ back into healthy lifestyle.
It’s about taking an approach to our health and well-being that:
isn’t focused on physical appearances because that’s got nada to do with being healthy.
embraces size diversity and recognizes that health is not one size fits all. We come in all shapes and sizes and so does healthy.
doesn’t focus exclusively on squats and veggies because there are many other important factors that contribute to health and wellness.
value-driven, not vanity-driven. We take care of our health not for flat abs, but so that we can live our lives to the fullest and in sync with the things and people we value most in this life.
honors, respects and promotes connection, attunement and trust with our bodies.
fosters a healthy relationship with ALL foods, as opposed to dichotomizing and moralizing foods in “good” / “bad” categories.
nurtures all aspects of our health and well-being—mental, emotional, relational, spiritual, and physical (think heart health, not thigh gap).
cultivates self- and body-acceptance, not body shame and self-hate.
Meet the Woman Behind Taking Healthy Back
Alicia Melgoza, MSW, MA, is a rebel with a cause to redefine healthy and put the ‘life’ back into healthy lifestyle. She knows from personal experience that you can have the so-called “bikini body”, exercise religiously and eat “clean” to a T and be very unhealthy and unhappy. That’s why she takes a radically unconventional approach to healthy living that isn’t about having a tight ass but about living a tight-ass life! As writer, Associate Clinical Social Worker and a Health At Every Size advocate, Alicia helps men and women find freedom from disordered eating and exercise so they are free to pursue their life’s purpose and passion. Her work has been published on popular healthy living websites such as Mind Body Green and Get Healthy U.
